La División Profesional de Baloncesto anunció que culminó el proceso de selección para aceptar los cuatro nuevos clubes que apoyarán la masificación y fortalecimiento del baloncesto profesional colombiano, grupo en el que está Motilones de Cúcuta, quinteto que hará las veces de local en el coliseo Toto Hernández.
En un proceso de 100 días se realizaron las 4 etapas que permitieron evaluar 21 Clubes de diferentes regiones del País.
El día 10 de Febrero de 2021 en el seno de la asamblea de clubes y en presencia del Presidente de la FCB Dr. Jorge Armando García Vargas, se socializó el proceso y la evaluación técnico-administrativa realizada con los aspirantes.
Con las consideraciones pertinentes y por unanimidad se seleccionaron los siguientes clubes para que a partir del año 2021 hagan parte de la División Profesional de Baloncesto:
1. Cafeteros de Armenia
2. Llaneros de Villavicencio
3. Motilones de Cúcuta
4. Tayronas de Santa Marta
Los clubes de acuerdo a los estatutos de la federación representarán las siguientes regiones o departamentos: Quindío, Meta, Norte de Santander y Magdalena, respectivamente.
Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior, en los próximos días se surtirá el proceso legal de afiliación a la Federación Colombiana de Baloncesto y los trámites pertinentes ante el Ministerio del Deporte para la obtención del reconocimiento deportivo como Clubes Profesionales.
La FECOLCESTO y la DPB agradecen a todas las personas y clubes que atendieron el llamado a esta convocatoria y felicitan a los seleccionados.
